Mussoorie, dubbed as the ‘Queen of Hills’, is a popular hill station located at Uttaranchal in North India. The name ‘Mussoorie’ was derived from a bushy plant ‘Mansur’ which is grown here in abundance. This beautiful hill station is one among the base hills in Himalayan ranges and is about 30 Km from Dehradun, the nearest city. The distance from Indian capital Delhi to this place is 280 km whereas to Rishikesh is about 85 km. This enchanting hill resort is at 2005.5 meters altitude and the climatic conditions here are very pleasant. Below are some of the major tourist places to visit in Mussoorie.

Tourist Places to Visit in Mussoorie

Lal Tibba - Also known as Depot Hill, this is the highest location in Mussoorie. From this spot, the views of the surrounding valleys are really spectacular.

Mussoorie Lake - Situated on the way to Dehradun, tourists can enjoy boat riding at the beautiful Mussoorie Lake.

Camel’s Back Road - Also known as Camel's Back Point, individuals desiring to have some peace and isolation can come to Camel’s Back Road. The view of the four kilometer long road is similar to a camel’s hump and people can have their pleasure ride either on horse or rickshaw.

Company Bagh - The Municipal garden of Mussoorie is popularly known as Company Bagh. Boat journey is the main enjoyment for tourists here. Families often come to spend their evenings in the grassland of the garden.

Gun Hill - Gun Hill is the second Highest point of Mussoorie. This is an old volcano near the Mall and located at a height of about 400 feet. The rope way riding to Gun Hill is an outstanding entertainment of this hill resort.

Benog Hill - This hill region is located on the western side of Mussoorie and stands at a height of 2104 meters. Jawalji Temple and Benog Sanctuary are on this hill.

Nag Devta Temple - This ancient temple is about 5 km away from Mussoorie, on Cart Mackenjie Road. From here, tourists can have a thrilling view of the Doon valley.

Churches - The Churches in Mussoorie are attractive places to be visited. Important among them are Christ Church (near Kasmanda Palace), Methodist Church (in the Mall), Kellogg's Memorial Church (on the route to Lal Tibba) and Old Union Church (near Landour).

Jawalji Temple - Situated on the top of Benog Tibba Hill at a height of 2104 meters, this Durga temple is surrounded by thick forests on all sides and provides a fascinating view of Himalayan valley, Doon valley and Yamuna valley.

Lake Mist - Lake Mist is a recently developed picnic center on the Mussoorie – Kempty road. The boating in this lake will be a memorable experience to tourists.

Benog Sanctuary - This sanctuary is founded in 1993 and is the ideal place for enjoying nature and its fabulous creations. Here, the rare species of Mountain Quail can also be observed.

Sir George Everest House - This traditional building was the house of India’s first surveyor general, Sir George Everest.

Cloud End - Cloud End is one of the famous resorts in Mussoorie. This beautiful place is in the midst of thickly grown deodar trees.

Van Chetna Kendra - This is a wild life park where Himalayan Peacock, Kakar, Monal, Ghurar are found.

Library Bazaar - This is a Victorian Model Library of the nineteenth century where people had gathered to hear their favorite musical bands.

Jaripani Falls - This beautiful water fall is about 8 km from Mussoorie.

Kempty Falls - Among the numerous water falls in Mussoorie Kempty is the biggest.
